Eyoun El Alb — Nagat

Originally released on cassette in 1980 by Cairo's legendary Soutelphan label, Eyoun El-Alb ("Eyes of the Heart") marked a bold modern chapter in Nagat El Saghira's celebrated career. Revered for her soft, intimate vocal delivery and delicate microtonal phrasing, Nagat collaborated with visionary composer and Al Massrieen bandleader Hany Shenouda, who brought warm analog synthesizers, drum machines, and electric bass to Cairo's classic orchestral traditions.

The title track, "Eyoun El-Alb," is an undeniable anthem of romantic longing, carrying sweeping orchestral melodies over a steady, hypnotic rhythm. Alongside the breezy coastal groove of "Ana Baasha El Bahr" ("I Adore the Sea") and the lush, cinematic textures of "Bahlam Maak" ("I Dream with You"), the album stands as one of the definitive bridge recordings between the Golden Age of Egyptian music and the synth-driven modern pop of the 1980s.
