Recorded over just two historic sessions in the spring of 1959 at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York, Kind of Bluecaptures trumpet titan Miles Davis at the absolute zenith of his creative powers. Looking to move away from the frantic, complex chord progressions of bebop, Miles gave his legendary sextet—featuring John Coltrane on tenor sax, Cannonball Adderley on alto sax, and Bill Evans on piano—sparse, melodic frameworks called "modes."

The result was pure magic. From the cool, iconic acoustic bass intro of "So What" to the deeply meditative, melancholic spaces of "Blue in Green," the band improvised with unprecedented freedom and emotional depth. It went on to become the best-selling jazz album of all time, universally revered by rock, pop, and hip-hop artists alike as a masterclass in atmosphere, restraint, and cool sophistication.

Pressing Details & Visuals

  • Limited Blue Vinyl: Pressed on high-quality, vibrant blue colored wax that serves as a beautiful visual tribute to the album's title and late-night aesthetic.

  • Premium Audio Source: Sourced from high-fidelity remasters to protect the intimate room dynamics, crisp cymbal textures, and warmth of the original 1959 sessions.

  • Classic Sleeve Artwork: Features the iconic original front-cover portrait of Miles Davis alongside the classic "Stereo Fidelity" typography banner.

  • Import Quality: Expertly manufactured and distributed within Europe with tight quality control for minimal surface noise.

Collector's Note: Part of what makes this 2025 European pressing so magical is how cleanly it isolates the instruments.
